Performance Review - Ronona J at Natick Porchfest 2022
There comes a time in the life of a band where appreciation extends beyond the band members’ immediate friends and family. It’s a joyous occasion.
You know how it goes. For your early performances, the audience is made up of mostly immediate friends and family. They laugh at your jokes, applaud at the appropriate times and call for an encore at the end of your set. It’s greatly appreciated, of course, but you wonder how things will play out with a more critical audience.
Natick Porchfest 2022 was Ronona J’s 3rd appearance in Natick. The weather was a perfect Fall New England day. There were 23 different performance venues around town and 40 musical acts. We were delighted to be hosted by Jan Sewell at her home at 16 Chester Street.
Our audience kept growing throughout our set and people stayed to the end. It was one of the first performances where we could look out at the audience and see more people than our usual entourage of band followers. Everyone seemed to be loving the music.
Here was our set list for Natick Porchfest 2022:
Medley of “Green Onions” (Booker T and the MGs) and “Help Me” (Sonny Boy Williamson)
Sweet Home Chicago (Robert Johnson)
Nobody Knows You (Jimmy Cox)
I Never Cared for You (Willie Nelson)
On the road again (Willie Nelson)
Walk of Life (Mark Knopfler)
I Miss You (Josh Osborne / Kacey Musgraves / Luke Laird)
Get Together (Chet Powers)
For What It’s Worth (Stephen Stills)
Sound of Silence (Paul Simon)
Angel from Montgomery (John Prine)
Tennessee Whiskey (Dean Dillon / Linda H Bartholomew)
Rock and Roll (Lou Reed)
At the end of our set, a person other than a family member called out for an encore. That felt like a big milestone. We reprised “Sweet Home Chicago” and were delighted when a couple got up and started dancing their hearts out to the shuffle rhythms of that blues number.
We will be editing video of the event and making those music videos available to our patrons. You can learn more about becoming a Ronona J patron by clicking here.
